School Policies
The Richmond Association of REALTORSŪ Real Estate School policies are as follows:
Payment: Payment for classes is due in full at the time of registration. Your space in a class will not be guaranteed unless payment has been received. We accept the following forms of payment: MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Cash, Check. Payment for classes cannot be charged to your member account.
Principles of Real Estate & Broker Classes: Payment in full must be received on or before the first day of class. Tuition for the course includes all books and materials for the course.
Cancellation: The Real Estate School reserves the right to cancel classes with a full refund to all paying participants. Classes may be postponed or cancelled if a minimum number of students have not pre-registered within 7 business days of the first day of class. If you must cancel your registration due to a conflict, your cancellation must be received no later than two business days prior to the start of class. No shows will not receive a refund/credit and no refund/credits will be issued after the start of class. Cancellations due to sickness, injury or extreme emergency will receive a credit to take another course with The Real Estate School within one year from issuance.
Graduate REALTORŪ Institute (GRI): Per NAR/VAR policy, written cancellation requests will be accepted through 5:00 PM on the 8th business day preceding each module in order to refund tuition. All paid tuition, other than the $25 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit will be refunded. Please note that no refunds will be given for cancellations made after the close of business on the 8th day preceding the module. No shows or late arrivals will not receive a refund.
Inclement Weather: Please call 422-5000 prior to class time. If there is a message indicating that your class has been cancelled, please contact us at (804) 422-5016 the following business day for information on the anticipated rescheduled date for your class or to receive a refund or a credit to take another class.
Attendance: Students must make every reasonable effort to arrive on time and be prepared for class. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late for class will not be admitted or receive the applicable credits for the course. For classes that break and reconvene, students that do not return to class after a break will not receive credit for their attendance. Excessive time spent away from class, or leaving class more than twice while the class is in session will also be counted as an absence. The Real Estate School reserves the right to not process credit for students who do not meet the attendance requirements. For Principles of Real Estate and Brokerage courses, please refer to their individual policies regarding class attendance.
Credit/Grades for Courses: Classes carrying continuing education credit will be submitted to the Real Estate Board within a week from the date of the course. For information pertaining to grades for the Principles of Real Estate and Brokerage courses, please see their individual policies.
Cheating: Any student who is caught cheating, by either giving or receiving aid, on an exam will automatically be dismissed from the class, without a refund, and given a failing grade for the class. Any student who is found to have cheated will not be readmitted to any TRES course requiring testing.
Cheating is defined as: Using or attempting to use unauthorized materials, information, notes, study aids, textbooks, or obtaining unauthorized assistance from any sources including other students.
Calculators/Tape Recorders: Only hand-held, silent, solar-powered or battery operated calculators are permitted in the classroom. Recording devices are not permitted.
Cell phones/Pagers: Must be switched to the silent or vibrate mode while in the classroom. If you feel you must take a call while attending a class, discretely leave the classroom and limit the duration of your call. Excessive time away from the classroom while the class is in session may result in your not receiving credit for attending.
Dress Code: Business casual dress must be observed while attending classes. Unacceptable attire on any day will include, but is not limited to: shorts, flip-flops, sweat suits, mini-skirts, clothing with holes and/or immodest exposure, dirty, stained and/or wrinkled clothing presenting an unprofessional appearance. When in doubt as to whether an article of clothing or outfit is appropriate it is safe to assume it is probably not.
