Check Your Credits
To find out how many credits have currently posted to your license, please log into the Real Estate Board’s website at www.dpor.state.va.us.
There are two simple ways to check your credits:
Using your license number: 1. Check “Individuals” under Real Estate 2. Enter your 10-digit license number under “License/Certificate Number” 3. Click “Search”
Using your name as it appears on your license: 1. Check “Individuals” under Real Estate 2. Type in your name under “Name” 3. Click “Search”
When your license record displays, you will see a summary of your license information including your license expiration date. Click on VIEW CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS to see you credits.
If you need Continuing Education credit to renew, your hours will appear at the top of the page. If you were licensed AFTER January 1, 2004 and are in your first renewal, your Post Licensure Education hours will appear toward the bottom of the page.
Are some of your credits not showing? E-mail DPOR with your name as it appears on your license along with your license number to inquire on the status of your credits.
Credit Requirements:
Continuing Education 16 hours to renew your license every two years. 8 of your 16 hours must be completed in these mandatory topics: • Agency • Contracts • Ethics (3 hr. minimum) • Fair Housing (2 hr. minimum) • Law
Post Licensure If you were licensed AFTER January 1, 2004 you will need 30 hours for your FIRST license renewal.
After your first renewal, you will complete Continuing Education every two years thereafter.
There are three tracks to choose from to complete your post licensure requirement: Residential Commercial Property Management
Click on the name of the track above to view the credit requirements to complete each track.
Tip! Keep a record of your classes as you take them. It will be much easier to identify the credits you are missing as your license renewal date arrives if you have an accurate account of the classes you have attended. We recommend creating a file for your Certificates of Completion and logging your hours on our Credit Matrix.
